Began work with Canada Customs, a division of Revenue Canada, Customs and Excise October 1977.

Retired March, 2011 as Senior Officer, Trade Compliance.

Early experience in the Department as a Customs Inspector and later as Superintendent in International Traffic Operations. 1988 began work as a Commodity Specialist in the Customs Assessment Division.

Pioneered the introduction of Free Trade Verification, with emphasis on the Canada United States Free Trade Agreement, and the later North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Our team produced training materials, Verification procedures, and Document requirements for conducting both on-site and off-site verifications of origin. These procedures, with modifications continue to be used by the Canada Border Services Agency.

Conducted numerous verifications of origin in a wide variety of areas including textiles, foodstuffs, cosmetics, footwear, metals, furniture and other segments of the economy. Presented seminars on Verification procedures to Mexico International Trade Ministry officials with emphasis on the Auto sector.

Participated in Inter-American Development Bank seminar in San Jose, Costa Rica delivering a paper on Verification Procedures to Trade Officials from the CAFTA group of Latin American nations.

Conducted Risk Analysis on market segments to prepare for Origin Verifications.
